Handcarts on Rocky Ridge. Yes or no?

(BLM / Pitchengine Communities) * (Lander, Wyo.) - The public comment period closes May 5, 2016, for a Bureau of Land Management Lander Field Office environmental assessment analyzing the renewal of a special recreation permit on public lands along and adjacent to four national historic trails. The Corporation of the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has filed to renew its permit to conduct handcart reenactments along portions of the Oregon, Mormon Pioneer, California and Pony Express national historic trails and other two-track routes within the Rocky Ridge area. The BLM prepared an EA that analyzes potential impacts from a range of alternative proposals for the management of the CPB’s use of the trails. Public scoping comments helped the BLM develop alternatives and impact analysis for the document. The EA is available online at The BLM considers public comments a valuable part of the analysis process that will assist in determining the next course of action.
