(Pitchengine Communities) * (Riverton, Wyo.) - The 3rd, 4th and 5th-grade students at Rendezvous Elementary spent this week preparing for a special Earth Day event at the school's new Outdoor Classroom Friday afternoon. The site of the new classroom one year ago was where surplus school equipment and old lockers had been piled. Those items were removed, high school Geometry/Construction students over last summer leveled the site and with the assistance of a number of community businesses, two greenhouses were built, numerous benches were installed, a drip irrigation system was put in place, pathways were graveled and stainless steel work tables were cemented in place. The irrigation pump will be powered by the sun as solar panels were built into the plan Earlier this week, the 600 or so students at Rendezvous took an afternoon and painted river rocks that were then placed along the edge of the pathways. A large water cistern was installed and a tool shed built. on Friday, the students returned to plant trees and flowers at the site.
