April was Riverton's wettest on record

(Riverton, Wyo.) - Today's dry weather is being celebrated for everyone who has to drive or walk over a dirt surface. It has been muddy, but fortunately with Sunday's lack of moisture and warmer temperatures today, it's beginning to dry out, making driving and walking much easier on non-paved surfaces. It is no surprise that Riverton had its wettest month since 1996 during April, when 3.31 inches of precipitation was recorded. That's 2.01 inches above normal. In Lander, it was the 10th wettest April on record since 1892. Lander received 4.61 inches which is 2.74 inches above normal. For your weather geeks, Riverton's highest temperature during April was 77 on the 22nd, the coldest was 24 on the 1st. Highest wind gust in April 59 mph on the 4th. Over in the Apple Valley, Lander's high temp for the month was 75 on the 22nd. The coolest was recorded on the first with 22 degrees. The peak wind blast in Lander was 62 mph on the 14th.
