Third party budget requests reduced by Riverton Council Committee

(Pitchengine Communities)* (Riverton, Wyo.) - The Riverton Council's Finance Committee is recommending about a 10 percent reduction in funding requests presented by local organizations. Funds to be awarded upon city council concurrence are: • Fremont County Youth Services, $28,800 • Riverton Volunteer Fire Department, $10,000 • Volunteers of America-Center of Hope, $100,800 • Good Samaritan Homeless Shelter, $1,752 in funding and $2,252 in city utility services • PAWS for Life Animal Shelter, $39,825 • Children’s Advocacy Project, $3,500 • Riverton Chamber of Commerce, $15,803 • Injury Prevention Resources, $5000 • “R” Recreation for the city's recreation programming, $130,500. After the Finance Committee report was presented to the council, member Mike Bailey asked if the 10 percent reduction is what city administrators are looking at for the city budget. In a word, City Administrator Steven Weaver said, "yes." The city council's work session on the city budget is set for May 24th at City Hall. #county10 #news
