(Pitchengine Communities) * (Riverton, Wyo.) - The pathway between the Beaver Creek Housing Area and Riverton has been closed due to the high level of the river. Some two feet of water cover the walkway at it crosses under the Little Wind River Bridge. WYDOT Riverton Maintenance Foreman Robin Clapp said barrels have been placed across the path to discourage people from walking on the path and attempting to use the underpass at the Little Wind River bridge south of Riverton adjacent to Wyoming 789. "For safety's sake, please avoid using the walking path. Safety is a concern," Clapp said. WYDOT officials are continuing to monitor water levels in the Little Wind River. Fremont County, including the Wind River Reservation, has received between 2-6 inches of rain since Friday night. Most water levels are currently receding across Fremont County, with the exception of the Little Wind River between Hudson and Riverton. The Little Wind River near Riverton is expected to crest about 6 p.m. Sunday at 10.1 feet, according to the National Weather Service, and is expected to remain above flood stage through at least Monday evening. The flood warning has been extended through 3 p.m. Monday. Here's the alert text from the NWS: [image: Inline image 1] #county10 #news
