(Wyoming Highway Patrol / Pitchengine Communities) * (Lander, Wyo) - *A no unnecessary travel advisory has been placed on all Lander area highways *due to local flooding by the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Lt. Lee Pence in Lander said all motorists should be aware of changing highway and roadway conditions. Traveling on flooded roadways is not advisable given the invisible hazards under the water and the risk of being pushed off the road. There have already been multiple calls for service of vehicles that have run off the road in these hazard areas.T Pence said the WHP is working with other emergency services agencies iin response to area flooding according Pence. Rivers and drainages are, in some instances, overflowing highways and roadways. Many of the problem areas are the result of culverts that are plugged with debris, he said. The WHP has called out 2 additional Troopers to respond to calls and WYDOT maintenance has multiple crews shoring up highway shoulders, diverting water, and clearing culverts. CurrentlyWY 132 (Blue Sky Highway) is closed at the Little Wind Casino, north of Ethete, from milepost 8 to 14 due to water overflowing the highway (see photograph).
