(Pitchengine Communities) * (Riverton, Wyo.) - The 911 Dispatch Center at the Riverton Police Department is about to get an upgrade. The city council approved a $516,000 bid award to Motorola for software for a system that will keep the RPD compatible with the state's WyoLink system, active across most of Wyoming. "We need to have the upgrade by August 16th to remain compatible,"Police Chief Mike Broadhead said. "If we don't get the upgrade, our interoperability with other agencies goes back to a 1070s analog system. With WyoLink, we have coordinated response with all law enforcement agencies. It's an obligation we need to maintain." Broadhead said the city has applied for a grant that will cover a part of the upgrade cost. City Administrator Steven Weaver said the money for the contract will come out of the city's 2016-17 budget. "We'll be alright," he said, when questioned about the budget. #county10 #news
