CWC's Valdez seeking President's job in Kentucky College System

(Riverton, Wyo.) - Central Wyoming College President Dr. Cristobal Valdez is has interviewed for another job at a Kentucky Community College System campus. Valdez has been at the Riverton college less than two years. In a video published three days ago that is now making the rounds on YouTube and social media, Valdez is pictured answering several generic questions from a search committee on behalf of Gateway Community and Technical College in Florence, KY. Valdez said during the interview that he left a successful presidency at a college in Ohio for Central Wyoming College to be closer to his mother, who was near the end of her life. He said he was able to spend time with her, and now that she has passed he found the opening at Gateway an appealing one and that he was excited to interview for the job. The Gateway campus in Northern Kentucky is just 2.5 hours away from his former campus in Ohio. Valdez also said he had family in Northern Kentucky that he would like to be closer to. "I know the timing isn't the best with two years of experience (at CWC), but I find this is just too grand an opportunity not to pursue," he said in the video. He also said he hopes that he can move on to the next round and interview in person on the campus. CWC Board Chairman Dr. Colton Crane had no official comment from his dental office in Riverton on the development. "There are many things that tie my tongue," he said, citing personnel rules. A call left with Dr. Valdez's CWC office had not yet been returned. View the YouTube interview: #county10 #news
