(Riverton, Wyo.) - Dave's Asphalt of Riverton was awarded a nearly $100,000 contract Tuesday night for a drainage project at the intersection of West Bend and Big Bend avenues. Dave's Asphalt's low bid was $99,469. The only other bid was from Jerry Bornhoft Construction in the amount of $122,854.80. Water from an irrigation ditch empties into the gutter and then the runoff crosses the street, filling the gutters on both sides with sand. The intersection will be reengineered to alleviate the problem. Funds from the optional one percent infrastructure tax will be used to fund the project. The project could take 60-90 days to complete. At that time the West Bend/Big Bend intersection will be closed to traffic. With the addition of this project's cost, the city's remaining one percent tax fund totals $2,001,783.
