Special meeting of Lander Council tonight for Chamber Building Expansion

(Pitchengine Communities) * (Lander, Wyo.) - The Lander City Council will hold a special meeting tonight in advance of a work session to approve a funding request to the Wyoming Business Council. The city is seeking a grant application in the amount of $442,450.00 and a loan application of $289,950.00 be submitted to the Wyoming Business Council for funding a new Lander Visitor and Chamber Business Complex. The city is also providing a $152,500 land match for a total project cost of $884,900. "We will expand in the current footprint of the property," said Brian Fabel, executive director of the chamber. "The Depot building will not be demolished, as we are currently seeking another partner to use the building." The purpose of the project, according to Fabel, is to enhance and increase visitation to the Lander area and to promote local businesses. The application is being made to the WBC's Business Ready Community Grant and Loan Program. The council tonight will also be asked to approve a contract with the Wyoming Aeronautics Department for reimbursement of some improvements at Hunt Field Airport not to exceed $5,000. The work session tonight will deal with several issues, including an annual update from the Lander Senior Citizens, a report on the Riverton Regional Airport event coming up on June 4th and discussion of recent flood issues, plus staff and committee reports.
