5.8 acre fire on Ethete Road is still under investigation

Yesterday afternoon Lander Rural Fire Department was dispatched to a grass fire on 671 Ethete Road. In total, 5.8 acres were consumed but no structures were damaged and there were no injuries reported. The fire was contained in about 2.5 hours. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and is still under investigation by the BIA Forestry. Part of Ethete Road was shut down for approximately 10-15 minutes due to smoke conditions. Lander Rural Fire Chief Nick Johnson reminds citizens that even though we've had a good amount of moisture lately, it's still warm and we're seeing afternoon winds. "Be cautious when you burn and try to burn in the morning," he added. If you burn, you're advised to contact the Sheriff's Office. #county10 #news
