Flood Advisory extended through Wednesday

(Fremont County, Wyo.) - The National Weather Service in Riverton has extended the small stream flood advisory for snowmelt in Central Fremont County until 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8th. This morning, Emergency Management reported minor flooding of low lying areas along the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie River in Lander. Gage reports along the North Fork of the Popo Agie indicate that the river is still at bankfull conditions. Flooding of low areas along the North Fork of the Popo Agie, the Little Popo Agie, Middle Fork of the Popo Agieand the Little Wind River will continue through Wednesday morning. Snowmelt runoff below the 10,000 foot elevation is expected to peak by Tuesday night. Rain showers over the Southern Wind River Mountains Tuesday night may cause further river rises early Wednesday morning. Tributary creeks and streams are expected to crest by Wednesday morning. The Little Wind River near Riverton is forecasted to crest near minor flood stage of 8 feet by late Wednesday night. Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.
