BREAKING: Flood warning issued for the Lander area

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Flood Warning for central Fremont County due to high snowmelt runoff until 10:15 a.m. tomorrow. At 10:18 AM MDT, the North and Middle Forks of the Popo Agie River were running at high levels this morning after a very warm and windy afternoon and evening over the mountains. Another warm and windy afternoon and evening is expected today which will cause another significant rise along the North and Middle Forks of the Popo Agie River for Saturday morning. The Middle Fork of the Popo Agie river is expected to rise to near 6.4 feet by early Saturday morning, which is 3 tenths of a foot higher than this morning's peak. At that river level, low lying property along the Popo Agie Estates subdivision is under water. Homeowners along the North Fork of the Popo Agie River should be ready for additional flooding of property near the river. Campers in City Park tonight should stay well away from the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie River tonight and early Saturday morning and be ready to move to higher ground if the river surges over its banks. #county10 #news
