Contract highway chip sealing project continuing in Fremont County

A $1.24 million contract chip sealing project is continuing in Fremont County through at least next Tuesday, June 14, according to Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer Kaia Tharp of Thermopolis. All work is dependent upon favorable weather. Prime contractor is Intermountain Slurry Seal of Salt Lake City, Utah. The upcoming schedule in Fremont County includes: -- Monday, June 13 -- U.S. 26/Wyoming 789 between Riverton and Shoshoni (mileposts 106 to 109.63), directly north of the Riverton city limits; -- Tuesday, June 14 -- U.S. 26/Wyoming 789 between Riverton and Hudson (mileposts 97.1 to 100.86), beginning south of the Wind River Hotel and Casino and continuing toward Lander. "Drivers in these areas should expect traffic delays, and please slow down for safety's sake," Tharp said. "This schedule is the best-case scenario; we're hoping to be finished by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest." Fog sealing of the highway shoulders is scheduled when chip sealing is complete. Only minor delays are expected during this work, as the oil distributor will be traveling in the same direction as traffic with a vehicle following it for safety, Tharp said. #wydot #county10 #news
