One seriously injured after early morning WY 134 wreck

The Wyoming Highway Patrol this morning was dispatched to a serious crash at the intersection of WY 134 and Tunnel Hill Road, with one individual life-flighted from the scene. WHP Lt. Lee Pence said the crash occurred at about 7:42 a.m. "A loaded tractor trailer belly dump was slowing west on WY 134, preparing to turn onto Tunnel Hill Road," he said. "A pick-up truck traveling behind the tractor trailer didn't slow in time and ran into the back of the trailer. The impact caused both vehicles to become stuck together. The tractor trailer continued his turn onto Tunnel Hill Road, where he stopped clear of WY 134." The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured, but the driver of the pick-up had to be extricated and flown to Riverton for his injuries. Investigation is ongoing into why the pick-up driver failed to slow down. "Although the weather has gotten much nicer, the crashes haven't," Pence said. "Our area has had nearly a half dozen personal injury crashes. Surrounding counties have had multiple fatal vehicle crashes. It is important to remember to drive first, cell phones and text messages can wait." #county10 #news
