People of the Earth Days
, a four-day
celebration held June 23-26 will feature Thermopolis' international
bestselling authors W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O'Neal Gear. Their fifty+
novels have been translated into 28 different languages; among their many
titles are People of the Earth, Sun Born, Copper Falcon, and People of the
River. While the Gears have close to 17 million copies of their books in
print, they are best known for their novels on North America's Native
peoples and archaeology.
Held in Thermopolis, WY, one of the most unique corners of the world, *People
of the Earth Days* kicks off with a reception with the Gears at the Days
Inn Hot Springs on Thursday, June 23rd, followed by tours of archaeological
sites, a history of bison ecology and preservation, explorations of geology
and paleontology, and a buffalo feast.

*Friday, June 24th:* Tour of the dig site and museum - Dinosaurs walked
around Thermopolis between 65 and 145 million years ago during the
Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Step through the doors of The
Wyoming Dinosaur Center and you are transported into a world where rulers
of the earth were not men but creatures.

*Saturday, June 25th:* Tour of legend rock with the Gears, which is
located 30 miles west of Thermopolis. With nearly 300 individual
petroglyphs, some thousands of years old, Legend Rock State Archaeology
Site is one of the oldest and best examples of Dinwoody rock art in the

Sunday, June 26th: Enjoy a Hot Springs Geological Tour with Barb Vetti,
including geology, rock formation, with river and mineral water. A
discussion of bison ecology and an examination of the exact spot Bad Belly
