Donors who give at a blood drive in July will automatically be entered into a drawing to win a Fit Bit! Did you know? - Each year- more than 4 million American depend on blood transfusions for their lives. There's only one source of blood for these patients in area hospitals- volunteer blood donors. - Area patient needs require approximately 1500 units of blood per week to serve hospitals in Wyoming and surrounding states. - Every two seconds someone needs blood - Historically, shortages of all blood types occur during the summer and around major holidays, although shortages can occur anytime. - If all blood donors gave at least twice a year, it would help curb blood shortages - Anyone who is in good health, at least 16 years old, and weighs at least 110 pounds can donate blood every 56 days. - Studies indicate that up to 90% of the population will use blood before the age of 72 - Type "O" blood is universal and used in over 1/2 of all emergencies every day *Remember! *Eat well and drink plenty of fluids before you donate.
