6 'irate' and intoxicated juveniles arrested at Rendezvous Ponds

(Riverton, Wyo.) - A Fremont County Deputy Sheriff attempting to handle a call for service regarding a trespasser at the Riverton Rendezvous Site was met by an irate crowd of intoxicated juveniles Monday afternoon. In an unrelated incident the Deputy was attempting to locate a man who had been trespassing from the area when a juvenile female appeared from a patch of tall grass and weeds. The juvenile began yelling at the Deputy and then ran over to a pond and attempted to jump in. The Deputy was able to stop the intoxicated juvenile who was subsequently placed under arrest for Minor under the Influence. While attempting to get the Juvenile back to his vehicle, the Deputy was met by five additional intoxicated juveniles who unleashed a verbal assault towards the Deputy and threatened to assault him. In the end, all six of the teens were arrested for Minor under the Influence of alcohol. The six teens reside in either the Lander, Riverton, or Arapaho area. They are identified as a 14-year-old female, 17-year-old male, 15-year-old female, 15-year-old female, 15-year-old male, 16-year-old male. Their blood alcohol concentrations were .147, .192, .211, .240, .262, .290. Three of the youths were turned over to family members. The remaining three were taken into protective custody and turned over to the Department of Family Services. It is unknown how the teens arrived in the area or who supplied the alcohol.
