2016 Challenge for Charities Fourth of July Races a Record-Breaking Success

(Lander, Wyo.) - The 2016 edition of the Lander Challenge for Charities Half Marathon, 5k and Kids’ 1 mile was a huge success with record-breaking participation. “We had 907 total race participants,” said Evan Reimondo, who along with his fiancée, Amber Wilson, was co-directing the races this year. Amber and Evan are also the founders and coaches of the free and inclusive Lander Running Club. The 2016 races exceeded 2015 participation by 80 runners. Registrants came from 33 states with one international registrant from Brazil. 60% of racers were female while 40% were male. “This race has grown to be enormous and what’s so impressive is that it’s entirely planned, organized and put on by volunteers - people who work full-time jobs and donate their free time to making such an elaborate event happen in Lander, Wyoming,” said Wilson. “We want to thank the volunteers and challengers who made this race possible with their time and dollars, because without them, this impressively sized event could not happen.” This was the fifth year that the event has been run under the Challenge for Charities program.
