Drier Conditions and Lightning Cause Two Fires

(Dubois, Wyo.) - Over the past few days, two small fires were reported on the southern half of the Shoshone National Forest. Both are now contained. The first fire, the Gold Fire, was reported on the Washakie Ranger District on July 2nd and was contained by Shoshone National Forest resources later that evening. This fire was a tenth of an acre. The second fire was a small wildland fire reported by a forest visitor in the East Fork area 19 miles northeast of Dubois, WY. Shoshone National Forest initial attack resources responded and achieved containment of the quarter acre fire around 8:00pm the same evening. While both of these fires were caused by lightning, the Shoshone National Forest reminds the community that with drier conditions and warmer temperatures the chances of fire can increase. The Shoshone National Forest reminds everyone to be mindful and diligent in their outdoor activities associated with heat sources. #county10 #news
