Riverton teen paralyzed after being thrown from horse; Determined to 'get her legs back'

17-year-old Annmarie Kalbach (aka Annie or Ann) of Riverton was thrown from her horse and broke her back on July 7, 2016. Specifically she broke her back at the 5th & 6th thoracic vertebra and is paralyzed from the waist down. Annie's mom Sarah tells County 10 that she was initially taken from the accident scene by helicopter to Wyoming Medical Center in Casper and flown almost immediately to Children's Hospital in Aurora, CO to receive appropriate surgical care. She underwent a fusion of the spine on July 9th. Annie has now been admitted to Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO for rehabilitation. Sarah and her family are asking for prayers for her healing and strength for Annie and her family! The family has set up a Go Fund Me page to help defray the cost of Sarah to stay in the Denver area, help defray costs of adaptive equipment and remodeling of the family home. The Kalbach's are hopeful to have Annmarie home in 2 months, but her stay may extend further than that. "Thank you for thinking of us. We appreciate your help," said parents Keith and Sarah. #county10 #news
