Public meeting for Lava Mountain Fire set for tonight

(Dubois, Wyo.) - The Lava Mountain Fire remains at approximately 250 acres and is located northwest of Dubois on the Wind River Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest. A public meeting will be held tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Dubois Fire Hall. Due to forecasted weather and anticipated fire behavior, the incident command will focus efforts on point protection for the structures in the area. While the main objective of this fire is firefighter and public safety, protection of private property is a high priority as well. Resources assigned to the Lava Mountain Fire include three heavy air tankers, two single engine air tankers, two heavy helicopter, two light helicopter, the Wyoming Interagency Hotshots, and seven fire engines with a strike team for structure protection. A Type 2 Incident Command Team has been ordered and will arrive later today. Forest Service Road 540 and the motorized trail at the end of Forest Service Road 538 are closed to firefighting operations. #county10 #news #whatshappening
