Eligibility and consent forms, as well as WHSAA paperwork will be completed at that time. It is extremely important that all parents/guardians attend this meeting. Students must have physicals, insurance, and all other paperwork completed before they can participate at practice. To ensure your athlete is eligible to start practice on the first day, August 15, have all paperwork turned in to the Activities Office no later than Friday, August 12, by noon. Participants will not be allowed to turn in paperwork to coaches at practice. August 8 - Registration will begin for students in grades 6 - 8 that are new to the Riverton School District. Please come to the office between 8:00 a.m. - noon or 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Students who were in Rendezvous or RMS last year have been registered. Only students new to the district need to come in for early registration. August 18 - 6:30 p.m. 6th grade orientation. All sixth grade students and parents are invited to attend, as well as NEW 7th and 8th grade students. August 18 - 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Open House August 17 - 3:15 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. 1st day of football, cross country and volleyball practice. All players must have a physical, parental permission slip and proof of insurance in order to practice. (The forms are available at RMS or doctors’ offices.) Meet in the gym and be ready to practice. Sixth graders may only compete in cross country in the fall. August 23 - First day for students. Front doors open at 7:30 a.m. and wing doors at 7:45 a.m. The first bell rings at 7:55 a.m. to go to classrooms. All students report to their grade-level wing. Schedules, handbooks, lockers, etc. will be handed out at that time. Breakfast will be available everyday 25 minutes before school starts. Please note that the entrance to the front of RMS is a one-way drive from Sunset Drive. Teachers will be calling each family to set up a time, during the afternoon of that week, to conference with parents and screen students. Parents and students will learn about their new school and have all of their school health checks done. Students will get a one-on-one screening with their teacher so that the school meets the individual needs of all of our students. We are excited for this new opportunity and can’t wait to meet all of our new students. Lunch will be served prior to dismissal and busses will run at 12:30 for those students who will need transportation home. WEDNESDAY LATE STARTS The students at all buildings will start classes at 8:45 a.m. every Wednesday. The buses will run at the same time Monday through Friday. Individual families, who drop off their students, may adjust their schedule to align with the 8:45 a.m. Wednesday start time or you may drop them off at the same time you do on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The district will provide supervision and a variety of activities for students on Wednesdays. This is to provide time for staff to work together on improving instruction, reviewing student achievement, and design lessons to improve student achievement.
