Powerball Sales Surge Ahead of Billion-Dollar Drawing

(Wyoming) You've probably heard by now that tonight's drawing for the Powerball game will be one of the biggest jackpots in history (if someone picks a winner!) At over 1.5 billion dollars, Wyoming's fledgling lottery association has contributed considerably to those numbers. Tom DeBerg of TLC Liquor says they're selling around $1200 in tickets a day at his store this week. According to WyoLotto CEO Jon Clontz, in just four days, Powerball ticket sales have reached $2.5 million, nearly reaching the $3 million in sales it achieved from all of last week. The typical number of Powerball purchases made on a weekly basis is usually somewhere around $500,000, so this billion-dollar jackpot has more than quintupled sales. That means the $3 million loan that WyoLotto was not anticipating being able to pay off to the State Treasury until this summer will be paid off some time *this week.* [image: powerballsign.jpg] #county17 #news *Feature photo: Dillon Malone buys a Powerball ticket from Big D's.*
