Drug Bust Near South Campus Leaves 8 Children In State Custody

(Gillette, Wyo.) On Tuesday morning, three people on Almon Drive were arrested for having 38 grams of meth (in the packaging) in their home. The 54 and 34 year old men, and a 27 year old woman, had eight children, ranging in ages from 3 to 13. They were each charged with 8 counts of felony child endangering. The children were not home at the time that law enforcement (including SWAT) executed their search warrant. They will remain in the custody of the Department of Family Services until police have concluded their investigation. A 23 year old man fled the scene of the arrests. Later Tuesday night, a deputy saw the suspect's black Chevy pickup drive by, and attempted to stop him. The suspect sped off, through several residence's yards, and ditched his truck -- with a passenger still inside -- in front of a home in Rolling Hills Trailer Park. The Campbell County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of Gillette Police and their K9 search unit, located the suspect hiding under a mattress in a different trailer in Rolling Hills. He was arrested for his outstanding warrants with the city, a probation violation, interfering with an officer, eluding police, and also for an expired registration and insurance on his pickup truck. This drug investigation is still ongoing with the Sheriff's Office. #county17 #news -- *Brenda Kirk* Community Maven for | 614.940.7121 Twitter | Instagram | Facebook PitchEngine™ | *Connecting Communities* | Twitter | Facebook
