911 Call leads to Arrest of Suspect with a Knife

(Gillette, Wyo.) In the wee hours of Monday morning, Gillette police found 26 year old David Groethe waving a knife at his girlfriend and threatening to kill her. The 31 year old woman had bruises on her arms and wrists from where Groethe allegedly held her while she tried to escape. She had even broken out a window trying to flee the home, and was bleeding from her hand. Law enforcement was responding to the woman's 911 call, where Groethe could be heard in the background screaming at her before it was disconnected. As police arrived, Groethe dropped the kitchen knife he was holding but was otherwise uncooperative with officers. Police found marijuana and a marijuana pipe in Goethe's residence, and arrested him for felony aggravated assault. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, false imprisonment, battery, and interference with an officer. The woman was transported to the emergency room where she required stitches for the cuts on her hand she acquired from punching out the window. #county17 #news -- *Brenda Kirk* Community Maven for | 614.940.7121 Twitter | Instagram | Facebook PitchEngine™ | *Connecting Communities* | Twitter | Facebook
