Board of Commissioners Re-Evaluate Victim/Witness Advocate Position

(Gillette, Wyo.) Tuesday afternoon Campbell County Board of Commissioners heard from County Attorney Ron Wirthwein and Monica Weber, one of the county's current Crime Victim-Witness Coordinator, regarding the funding of her position. Previously the county had been receiving a grant to support the role of victim advocate. But the focus of the grant has changed over the years, and the department found the grant no longer fit the needs of Campbell County. Instead of serving victims, they were servicing the grant to make it work for them. The board found this unacceptable and so instead voted to absorb Weber's position in to the county attorney's office. She will now be able to focus fully on serving victims of primarily family violence, or sexual assault crimes. She will continue to work out of the county attorney's office. #county17 #news -- *Brenda Kirk* Community Maven for | 614.940.7121 Twitter | Instagram | Facebook PitchEngine™ | *Connecting Communities* | Twitter | Facebook
