Make-A-Wish Wyoming Grants Its 500th Wish

(Casper, Wyo.) It all started 30 years ago in Gillette. Brian, a 10 year old local boy, wished for a BMX bike. And the new chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Wyoming made it happen. [image: briandecker.jpg] *h/t Make-A-Wish Foundation // Pitchengine Communities* Since then, Make-A-Wish has helped fulfill the dreams of 500 children in Wyoming with life-threatening medical conditions, the latest of which is 13-year-old Elizabel of Evansville, who was diagnosed with a carcinoid tumor. Her wish is to visit Hawaii and see the volcanoes. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children who are between the ages of 2½ and 18 years old and are battling progressive, degenerative or malignant diseases -- not necessarily just terminal illnesses. Since its beginnings in Gillette in 1985, the foundation has helped 44 children in Gillette. They've also helped over a dozen children in areas around Campbell County like Wright, Rozet, and Moorcroft. “We don’t want to miss the opportunity to provide a little magic and hope for every medically eligible child in the state,” said Morgan Legerski, the CEO of Make-A-Wish Wyoming. “To do this, we must have children referred to us. We encourage anyone who may know of an eligible child to contact our office. Having their one true wish granted can be just what a child and their family need during a dark and uncertain time.” You can volunteer, donate, or refer a child to their program on their website, or by calling (888) 996-9474. *Feature photo: Evansville wish child Elizabel celebrates the granting of her wish to go to Hawaii.
