Winter celebrations aren't phased by warm weather

(Gillette, Wyo.) Gillette Main Street doesn't have any intention on changing their plans for this weekend's Ice Fest, despite predicted high temperatures in the 50s and possibly even rain. From noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday, there are plans for fire pits along the 3rd street plaza, a s'mores making station, and an ice sculpting contest. This is in addition to a silent auction and chowder competition taking place inside Fiesta Tequila and the Gillette Brewing Company. Executive Director Jessica Seders told County 17 that the sculptors aren't worrying about the heat -- they're using 300 pound blocks of ice after all -- and the s'mores and hot chocolate are still gonna flow, even if it's raining. Most events are free, and the stores on Gillette Avenue will be taking part in the events, as well, rain or shine. Alla Lala will have a cupcake frosting event starting at 10 a.m. Not to be outdone, the Sundance Winter Festival is bringing the snow in to downtown themselves for this weekend's festivities. They plan on having skijoring, barstool races, snow sculpting and a Snowmobile Poker Run all weekend, and snow is key: embed video #county17 #news
