A foot chase with State Troopers turns in to a search for an escaped passenger

(Gillette, Wyo.) It started Wednesday afternoon, when Wyoming Highway Patrol attempted to stop a car on Highway 51. According to Lt. Will Zilka, the driver, 22 year old Anissa Pierce, attempted to elude the trooper by turning north on Garner Lake Road and east on Collins Road before turning in behind Feet Pride. She stopped the car, got out and ran. A man who was a passenger in Pierce's car moved over to the driver's seat and drove off. The trooper chased after Pierce on foot, but soon caught up to her after she fell. As he attempted to restrain her, she allegedly kicked and punched the trooper repeatedly. He was able to restrain her and place her in custody. Pierce's car was found abandoned just at the end of the street, on Garner Lake Road. It has been impounded. She was transported to Campbell County Hospital for treatment. She had minor abrasions and contusions but her injuries were not considered serious, and she was arrested and taken to the county jail. The trooper did not require medical treatment. Pierce was arrested for DUI exactly two weeks prior to this incident. Meanwhile, law enforcement are still searching for the passenger. #county17 #news *Stock photo provided by Wyoming Highway Patrol // Pitchengine Communities*
