Wyoming Film Council wants to know: WY Are You Here?

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) For their ninth annual Wyoming Short Film Contest, the Wyoming Film Office wants you to answer the question "WY am I here?" Film makers can submit their videos online by April 15, 2016. A $25,000 grand prize will be awarded to the winning entry. But there are changes to this year's guidelines. "In 2016, entries don't have to be shot or event set in the state," said Film Office Representative Colin Stricklin. "It's our hope that these changes will encourage filmmakers both in Wyoming and beyond its borders to enter." Of course, the $25,000 Grand Prize for use toward the winner's next shot-in-Wyoming project is a pretty good incentive, too. Entries will first go through a public voting round, then the 10 best-rated entries will go before a panel of judges made up of film production, visual arts and industry representatives. The ultimate winner will be selected based on criteria including cinematography, screenplay, acting, sound design, editing and overall production value, as well as their answer to the contest's central question, "WY am I here?" A full list of rules and regulations is available here . To enter, login to your Vimeo account and click the green "Join" button on the film office's page . Upload your short film to your account and in your video settings, go to "Collections" and check the "Wyoming Short Film Contest" box. The Wyoming Office of Tourism's Film Office will begin accepting film submissions for the contest starting today. The Grand Prize Winner will be announced May 2, 2015. *Film still from David Gonzales' "Get Up, Stand Up" // Pitchengine Communities* #county17 #news
