Happening Now: Happy Birthday, Girl Scouts!

(Gillette, Wyo.) Today the Girl Scouts turn 104 years old. March 12th is the day founder Juliette Gordon Low formed the very first troop. She had a vision of worldwide Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting that would create international friendships. [image: 20160312_145234[1].jpg] Gillette area troops are holding a Spring Carnival at the Rockpile Community Center on S 4-J Road in order to celebrate. They are collecting canned food for the Council of Community Services, and have several game stations set up for prizes. [image: 20160312_145221[1].jpg] Starting last Sunday, the Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming have been participating in Girl Scout Week. Sunday, troops were encouraged to wear their uniforms to church. During the week they have been working in order to honor the values of family, community, and friendship. [image: 20160312_145114[1].jpg] *"Low's Temporary Tattoos" were a variety of different nature-related temporary tattoos being handed out.* Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming membership consists of 8,583 girls and 2,810 adults with national membership at 2.7 million.
