Campbell County Students gear up for Make-A-Wish Week

(Gillette, Wyo.) Starting on Monday, CCHS students are putting on a week of fundraising events to benefit the Make-A-Wish program in Wyoming. "Wish-Grams" will be sold for a $1 throughout the week during lunchtime, with the wishes to be delivered around the school on Friday. Tuesday is a change-collecting challenge, Thursday there will be a raffle for an iPad mini, gift cards, and wireless headphones. But Tuesday will be the most challenging day -- "Let It Go", the popular song from Disney's Frozen soundtrack, will play non-stop over the intercom until enough money is raised to shut it off. The program is called "Kids for Wish Kids," an effort to get students to raise money for children battling life-threatening medical conditions. It began in 2000, when five schools across Wyoming raised over $2000. In 2015, there were 32 schools participating, and $182,727 was raised. Each high school can create whatever contests they want to try and raise money in their community. So far, CCHS has raised $26,309 for Make-A-Wish Wyoming since it began participating in the program in 2003. #county17 #news
