(Gillette, Wyo.) A Rozet resident has announced his decision to run for the State Legislature. Nicholas De Laat previously ran for a House seat in District 52 in 2010, as a Libertarian. This year he seeks a seat already occupied by Bill Pownall. (Pownall has not yet responded to questions from County 17 as to whether he will be seeking re-election.) And he plans to do it as a Republican. "My primary goal is to use real-time communication with constituents when in Cheyenne, allowing them to talk live with their Representative while bills are debated on the floor," he said in a recent statement. De Laat plans to begin a campaign in earnest some time in July, and has started a website
where he'll be describing his
plans for building a better business and energy environment for Wyoming. He
was formerly the owner of the Campbell County Observer.
