Human remains found in Lusk identified as 54 year old missing man

(Lusk, Wyo.) - The human remains found in Lusk on Feb. 21 were recently identified as Kenneth VanBuskirk, Chief of Police, John Anderson, confirmed to Pitchengine Communities. VanBuskirk, 54, was reported missing after being last seen at his home on July 28, 2014. The LPD, Niobrara County Sheriff's Office, and Search & Rescue did a sweep of the area, according to Lusk PD Assistant Chief Jim Frye. It took a month to identify VanBuskirk due to the condition of the remains, according to Chief Anderson. There has been no cause of death at this time, and the investigation remains active. Pitchengine Communities has reached out to the Department of Criminal Investigation for further comment on the investigation and will update as more information becomes available. ​
