New UW President to Speak at Gillette Commencement

(Gillette, Wyo.) Dr. Laurie Nichols, who will replace Dr. Richard McGinity as president of the University of Wyoming on July 1st, will be the commencement speaker for graduates at Gillette College this May. Dr. Nichols has been in the administration of South Dakota State University since 1994, when she was named dean of the College of Education and Human Science. She also served as the interim president of Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She has a B.S. in education from SDSU, an M.Ed. in vocational and adult education from Colorado State University, and a Ph.D. in family and consumer sciences education from the Ohio State University. "It’s quite an honor to have Dr. Nichols come to speak at Gillette College," said Dr. Mark Englert, CEO and VP of Gillette College. "Her long, distinguished career as an educator makes her the perfect person to inspire the next generation of Wyoming leaders. She serves as an inspiration to all our graduates."
