Devils Tower Visitors Bring Millions in Revenue to Local Communities

(Wyoming) A report released this weekend by the National Parks Service concludes that over 478,000 visitors to Devils Tower National Monument in 2015 spent an estimated $29,889 in local gateway communities. The ripple effects of that spending had a cumulative benefit to the local economy. Over $37,000 spent locally by visitors to the monument supported nearly 500 jobs in neighboring communities like Hulett. Wyoming's six National Parks brought in over $890 million dollars in 2015, supporting 12,000 jobs, and adding $1.1 billion to the Wyoming economy. Nationally, National Park Service visitors were estimated to directly spend $16.9 billion in communities within 60 miles of a National Park Service unit. Such visits were estimated to have a $32 billion benefit on the U.S. economy. #county17 #news
