Former Gillette Man Charged with Child Pornography Possession

(Gillette, Wyo.) On May 4th, Leonard "Z-Man" Zaffarano appeared in Campbell County Circuit Court on three counts of felony possession of child pornography. According to court documents, Wyoming's DCI got involved with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after receiving a tip that child porn had been uploaded from a residence in Gillette. Investigators were able to use IP addresses, iPhone and Apple Cloud information, and email addresses to verify several internet accounts belonging to Zaffarano. Further investigation by DCI found approximately 80 images connected to Zaffarano's account that depicted children under the age of 7 participating in sexual acts. One photo, constituting one of the felony counts, involves a toddler still in diapers. Many of the photos are believed to have been taken using Zaffarano's iPhone. Others appear to have originated from a separate digital camera. The investigation started in October of 2015. Law enforcement narrowed down Zaffarano's location to an apartment complex across the street from Sunflower Elementary School. By the time they were able to execute a search warrant on the residence, Zaffarano and his fiancee had moved out of Wyoming to Washington State. Each felony charges is a maximum 10 year prison sentence. Zaffarano bonded out of detention Thursday. #county17 #news
