National Bison Legacy Act Officially Makes the Bison a National Symbol

(Washington, D.C.) Today President Obama signed the National Bison Legacy Act into law. The act officially makes the American bison the national mammal of the United States. It now joins the ranks of the bald eagle as an official symbol of our country. The Department of the Interior shared the news along with a list of 15 facts about American bison. One of the most interesting facts? The only place in the country where bison have lived since prehistoric times is Yellowstone National Park.
