Interested in being a Storm Spotter? Class is next week!

(Gillette, Wyo.) This year's summer Severe Weather Class will be on Tuesday, May 17th at 7 p.m. The two hour course is in the Gillette College Presentation Hall, and is one of the free annual classes put on across Northeast Wyoming and Western South Dakota each spring by the National Weather Service. The class will cover what causes the formation of severe weather in the summer, and what to look for in approaching storm clouds. The dangers from hail, flood, lightning, microbursts and tornadoes, and what safety measures you need to take when severe weather occurs will also be covered. Campbell County's Emergency Management Agency will explain the local warning system, and have a weather radio display. You will learn what to report and who to contact when you observe severe weather. No registration is required. If you have any questions, you can contact David King at 307-686-7477. *Feature photo: Tornado south of Gillette near Savageton on June 26th, 2014.
