(Gillette, Wyo.) An update to our story from last month
A six year old reported to staff at Rawhide Elementary that his father had
punched and choked him. DFS and GPD investigated, interviewing the boy's
sisters, mother, and father. The children were also forensically
interviewed by staff at the Child Advocacy Center of the Black Hills,
according to court documents.
The father, 32 year old Justin Reynolds, says he held his son down to
prevent him from fighting with his sisters on the morning of April 26th. He
did not think he'd hurt his son until police interviewed him later that day.
The boy reportedly told investigators that a similar incident had happened
the summer before, but that he and his sisters had not reported it because
"they are scared of Justin."
An arrest warrant was issued for Reynolds and he appeared in Circuit Court
on May 17th. The charge of felony child abuse can bring a 10 year prison
sentence. Reynolds was released from county detention on $7500 bond.
