Local Law Enforcement Announce Zero Tolerance Policy

(Gillette, Wyo.) The Memorial Day holiday is fast approaching, and it's one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. From May 27th until June 5th, Campbell and Converse County law enforcement are participating in a national "Click it or Ticket" campaign an in effort to save lives through increased seat belt use. "Time after time, we see the deadly results that come from drivers and passengers refusing to wear a seat belt," said Campbell County Sheriff Scott Matheny. "Our job is to stop those who are not buckled up, and keep them from repeating this potentially deadly mistake." Nationwide, half of all fatal crashes involved occupants that were not wearing their seat belts. Currently there are 15 traffic deaths in Wyoming, compared to 46 this time last year. Along with the enhanced law enforcement effort, Wyoming Highway Patrol is urging drivers to call the REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) hotline number: 1-800-442-9090. The Department of Transportation has also created a video for the campaign: (embed here) #county17 #news
