City Watering Restrictions Start June 1st

(Gillette, Wyo.) Since 2013, Gillette has had a lawn watering schedule, both mandatory and voluntary, to help the city's water tanks replenish after high volume usage in the summer. Every Monday from June 1st through October 1st, there is no watering of lawns allowed. Exceptions are made for those with new grass seed or sod, and residents can obtain signage and permission by calling the City of Gillette Utilities Department at (307) 686-5228. Since the City enacted this ordinance three years ago, there haven't been any tickets issued for watering on Mondays. (However, a first offense does bring a $100 fine if you get caught with your sprinklers on!) The voluntary watering schedule is as follows: *Even numbered addresses can water* - Wednesdays - Fridays - Sundays *Odd numbered addresses can water* - Tuesdays - Thursdays - Saturdays The City's advice is to only water between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., because too much evaporation occurs during the daylight hours to do your lawn much good. #county17 #news
