#needtoknow: Sports Authority Liquidation Sales

(Gillette, Wyo.) If you headed over to Sports Authority this weekend to check out the Going-Out-of-Business sale, you might've been disappointed to see that most things are only marked down 10%. Consumerist explains that during a liquidation sale, anything previous sales are rescinded, and items are "marked up" to their original retail prices: "The liquidator will first mark items down to 10% off, then 20%, finally escalating to some actual deals that might even beat sale prices at competitors." The three liquidation companies that bought the rights to sell off Sports Authority stock are Tiger Capital Group, Hilco Global, and Gordon Brothers, who have previously handled the liquidation for companies like Borders and Circuit City. This means that anyone looking for a rock-bottom bargain will be taking a chance. Prices might not drop below what they were before the company's bankruptcy until later this summer. Locations will be open through August 31st, and everything sold from now until then will be sold *as-is*, which means you should check the warranty with the manufacturer, as that might be your only recourse if you get something home and it's defective. Gift cards will only be valid until June 28th . #county17 #news
