(Gillette, Wyo.) Tuesday afternoon around 5:45 p.m., Campbell County Sheriff's Deputies attempted to stop a rental car with Teton County plates. According to reports, when the driver saw a law enforcement vehicle turn around behind him, he sped off down Southern Drive, going speeds of over 100 mph. 49 year old Terry Hoff led law enforcement on a pursuit through the area west of Antelope Valley, driving up in to the field at the end of Antelope Valley Street. That's where he reportedly exited his car and fled on foot. Deputies chased him north but lost site of him near Stampede Drive. They thought he may have been hiding near a shop on the property. Gillette Police arrived to help with the search with the aid of their K9 unit. According to Gillette Police reports, Hoff surrendered to them from behind a broken-down van, after they made the presence of their police dog known. He was arrested for eluding. Hoff is on Federal Probation following a prison sentence for possession of child pornography. He was convicted in 2006, and was already serving time for possession of meth. He is a registered sex offender
and was ordered to 10 years of probation following his release.
There is an investigation ongoing by DCI that will likely include the
controlled substances Hoff indicated were present in his car.
