(Gillette, Wyo.) An update to our story from earlier this week
According to court records, the three men arrested with over 90 pounds of
marijuana barely knew one another, and did not know the man in Seattle who
asked them to take three bags by bus to New Jersey. They were told the
contents of the luggage were "a secret," according to one suspect.
Only one of the three men spoke any English and there were language barrier
problems interviewing them because of this. Still, they denied knowing what
was in the luggage or who was supposed to be retrieving it from them at the
other end of the country. The three appear to originally be from the New
Jersey area, and it's unclear why they went to Seattle in the first place.
The suspects appeared in Circuit Court on Thursday and are being held in
Campbell County Detention on $20,000 bond each. Their charges of possession
with intent to deliver a controlled substance could bring a $10,000 fine or
10 years in prison, if the court decides there's enough evidence against
them to prosecute.
