Pronghorns Headed to National College Rodeo Finals

(Gillette, Wyo.) The Gillette College Men’s and Women’s Rodeo teams will be competing in five events this coming week at the College National Finals Rodeo, held June 12th through the 18th at the Casper Events Center in Casper, Wyoming. The teams were two of the best in the Central Rocky Mountain Region this season, with the women’s team placing first overall and the men’s team placing third. The men’s team will be represented by Travis Nestor Nelson, who finished the season first overall in the conference in Saddle Bronc Riding. The Lady Pronghorns will send four representatives: The Lady Pronghorns will send four representatives: Brooke Jean Howell, who finished fourth this season in Team Roping Header; Taylor Marie Engesser, who finished first in Breakaway Roping and third in Barrel Racing; Coralee Spratt, who finished fourth in Breakaway Roping and tenth in Goat Tying; and Casey Rae Reimler, who finished 11th in Goat Tying. “We’re very excited for our team,” said Head Rodeo Coach Will LaDuke. “These five individuals have proven themselves as some of the best and most talented young people in the nation. It is where the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association crowns individual event champions in saddle bronc riding, bare back riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, and goat tying. National team championships are also awarded to both men’s and women’s teams.
