Third Street Plaza Unveiled During Arts Festival

(Gillette, Wyo.) Saturday afternoon hit a record 100 degrees, but the heat didn't stop local artists from gathering downtown to show off their work. The Gillette Main Street foundation organized a day of music and celebration along the newly renovated Third Street Plaza. Mayor Louise Carter-King thanked the organization for putting together the convertible space and improving Gillette. "The events that take place here will give visitors more reasons to not just stop in our community, but to stay and experience everything that Gillette has to offer," the mayor said, shortly before cutting the ribbon on the plaza. Decorative street barriers created by Greg's Welding were in use to help seal off the promenade during the street festival. There is also over a mile of electrical cables buried under the pavement for use with lighting and other power needs, depending on the type of events scheduled downtown. The display will be at the Skate Park on 4-J next Saturday and the Donkey Creek Festival the weekend of June 24th, as well as at local businesses Main Bagel, Alla Lala Bakery, and Big Lost Meadery. #county17 #news
