Lightning Strike Ignites 15 Acre Fire; Fireworks at Keyhole Canceled

(Gillette, Wyo.) At 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Campbell County Fire responded to T7 Road after it was reported there was a grass and timber fire in the area of Yellow Hammer Ranch, south of Gillette. According to CCFD, the fire was caused by lightning on Sunday, but wasn't reported until Monday afternoon. It was contained at just over 15 acres. Eighteen firefighters from CCFD, Forest Service, and BLM responded yesterday. Twelve firefighters from all agencies will be there for most of the day today, doing cleanup on scene. In regards to the dry conditions in Crook County, the Wyoming State Parks service has announced this morning that the Pine Haven 4th of July Fireworks at Keyhole State Park have been cancelled due to the extreme fire danger in Crook County. *Photo h/t CCFD* #county17 #news
