More Counterfeiting Moving Its Way Back to Northeast Wyoming

(Gillette, Wyo.) In February, the Secret Service got involved with an investigation in to several counterfeit twenties and hundreds found floating around Gillette, Buffalo, and Sheridan. Now it seems more fake bills are starting to circulate again. On Monday, the manager of Gillette's Dairy Queen reported that some time over the weekend they'd acquired a counterfeit $20 bill. They were unsure which cashier or which register the bill had been taken at. Wednesday, a 22 year old employee at the same Dairy Queen reported to Gillette Police that a fake $1 bill had been taken during the day shift. While the dollar bill is the most common denomination of U.S. money, it is not frequently counterfeited due to the time and effort it takes to produce a fake buck. The enterprise is usually not as profitable as with twenties. Buffalo's Chamber of Commerce is saying that First Interstate Bank is also warning Johnson County residents about fake bills starting to circulate in the area, particularly $20 bills. #county17 #dally #news
